Mr Arthur Appleton was a local horse breeder and it was his idea to build an Art Museum in Ocala. He drew his idea on a napkin and gave the city 10 million dollars to build it. He donated his art collection of 6000 pieces from around the world to to the museum. We were told that they now have over 18,000 pieces and the displays change frequently.
